Another Party Heard from . . . Rev. Marie M. Fortune Has Things to Say

After 30 years, how about a blog? When I began my work in 1977, I didn't even have access to a copier. I wrote my first book on a typewriter. Remember those?

After 30 years, how about a blog? When I began my work in 1977, I didn't even have access to a copier. I wrote my first book on a typewriter. Remember those? The changes in communications are beyond imagining. So we are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of FaithTrust Institute by launching "Marie Fortune's Blog."

Although we now have unprecedented access to news, information, and opinion via the Internet, we don’t always have useful analysis or commentary so readily available.

I offer this analysis and commentary on issues that concern us at FaithTrust Institute. My intent is to contribute immediately to a weekly discussion, sometimes news-related, sometimes issue-oriented, other times spiritually focused. Our issues are sexual and domestic violence in the context of religious practice and belief. Since 1977, I have lived and worked at this intersection, exploring the complexities and offering resources to guide our collective work to end these intransigent problems.

I will use my voice as an educator, author and Christian pastor to explore:

  • How do our religious beliefs, values and practices encourage and sustain us in seeking love and justice in a broken world?
  • How can we learn from each other's particular faith traditions in an interfaith context?
  • How do race, gender, class, sexual orientation and all the other dimensions of who we are shape our perspectives and our options?
  • How do we join our efforts in spite of our differences?

Stay tuned. I have more to say. . .
