Summer Meaningful Voices Book Club Selection: The Round House

July Book Club Selection

For our summer Meaningful Voices Online Book Club, we've selected The Round House by Louise Erdrich (Harper Perennial, 2012).

Winner of the National Book Award, this is the story of a family on the Ojibwe reservation in North Dakota, and the crime that devastates their community. Told from the point of view of the victim's thirteen-year-old son, this novel is both a gripping detective story, and a powerfully humane examination of the impact of rape and racism on a woman, her family, and her entire community. It's about a search for justice and healing.
